Council officers, emergency services and Powercor have been working through the weekend to cleanup after last week's storms. Over 30 locations requiring urgent action were identified on Friday. Council's contractors have worked alongside Powercor's crews to address more than half of these sites so far. There's still a lot of work to do, so here's what you'll see us working on over the next three weeks:
- Over the next few days, we'll be completing tree inspections to ensure we can safely reopen parks to the public. Please avoid closed off areas until we can complete this important safety work.
- While we've already cleared roads and key walking routes, we'll continue check and clean footpaths throughout the Borough.
- Although tree removal and wood chipping contractors are in high demand, Council has secured a number of crews to commence on Wednesday. You'll see them removing and chipping less urgent fallen trees and branches over the next few weeks.
Here's a tip for cleaning up around your home – you can place leaves and branches in your green bin, as long as the bin isn't overloaded and the branches are chopped into smaller sections. Loading your green bin properly makes sure there aren't any leftovers stuck inside.
