The Financial Review Client Choice Awards recognise the best firms and practitioners from the professional services sectors in Australia and New Zealand. The 15th annual gala dinner was held on 27 March at the Melbourne Sofitel where winners celebrated their achievements in front of a record crowd.
The Victorian Government's support of the 2019 awards recognises the major role that the professional services sector plays in the Victorian economy. Accounting for 18 per cent of gross state product, the largest contribution from any industry sector, professional services employs over 430,500 Victorians and contributed $78.3 billion to the state's economy in 2017-18.Some factors contributing to the growth of the professional services sector and Victoria as a professional services hub are:
- Melbourne's reputation as one of the world's most liveable cities is attracting high quality talent and business investment
- Major infrastructure projects which are generating huge demand for professional services skills
- Booming population growth means that Melbourne is set to be Australia's most populous city by 2026
- The competitive cost of commercial real estate makes it attractive to expand and establish businesses in Victoria
