Willow Tree's Clint Glass wins PBR Hawkesbury buckle – sets up Nationals showdown
Hawkesbury was bull riding central this weekend as 28 riders from across Australia went head-to-head over two bone-rattling, high-octane nights. With $20,000 in prize money on the line and the PBR Australia Grand Finals in Townsville fast approaching, every 8 seconds in the arena counted more than ever.
Willow Tree cowboy Clint Glass delivered in sizzling form, winning the buckle with two strong rides from three. Glass opened with 83.00 points in Round 1 on Crackin Tins (Night 1), backed it up with 82.00 in Round 2 on Vanilla Ice (Night 2), before being bucked off Man Glitter in the Championship Round. The victory follows his runner-up finish in Caboolture last weekend, signalling his rise as a Finals contender.
Queenslander Dan Ruhland (Mount Walker) finished second with an aggregate of 164.00 points, while fellow Queenslanders Kurt Shephard (Mareeba) and Caiden Sandilands (Rockhampton) shared third place.
Glass's win has shaken up the leaderboard, propelling him from ninth into third. But it's Shephard who continues to dominate, extending his lead at the top of the standings to 1,876.33points. New Zealand's Rylee Ward finished sixth at Hawkesbury, enough to push him into fifth place nationally ahead of Queensland's Zane Hall.
Hot on their trail are Aussie contenders Ben Bode (Calliope), Tyson Smith (Walcha) and Bryn Francis (Moura), all eyeing a spot under the bright lights of Townsville's Grand Finals.
