Closure of Operation Oscar Moonglow

Detectives from the Child Trauma and Sexual Crime Unit arrested and charged a man yesterday following investigations into a range of alleged historical sexual offences over two decades, Queensland Police say.

The alleged incidents occurred around North Queensland and Brisbane between the years of 1972 and 1993 against three girls.

The 78-year-old man was taken into custody yesterday in Sapphire and has since been charged with over 130 offences including 61 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, 53 counts of rape and three of assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
