CLP Government Secures Pay Deal For NT Public Service

NT Government

The Finocchiaro CLP Government has secured real wage rises for the NTPS, with the majority of employees voting in favour of the Government's latest offer.

The approved agreement delivers a range of improvements to pay and conditions, including:

Annual salary increases of 3%, 3%, 3.5% and 3.5% (or CPI in the fourth year)Back-pay to 17 November 2025Improved allowances, including retention allowances in Katherine and Alice Springs

The agreement will now be lodged with the Fair Work Commission for approval with salary increases expected to be paid from February 2026.

Minister for Public Service, Jo Hersey, said the result sends a clear message to the Unions - get on board or get out of the way.

"Public servants saw through the hypocrisy of the Labor party aligned Unions, which sought to block progress and delayed real wage rises every step of the way.

"I want to thank all the employees who took part in the ballot, and provided feedback, your involvement in the enterprise agreement process is important and appreciated," Mrs Hersey said.

"Our approach gives certainty and delivers real wage rises to the NTPS, this is in stark contrast to the former Labor government's approach of freezing wages."

In 2021, the CPSU NT Secretary said: "NTPS workers should never have had to choose between a taxable bonus before Christmas with threats of job cuts if they rejected the offer, and continuing to bargain under the Gunner Government's unfair wages policy."
