Logan City Council has started construction on a new multi-million-dollar clubhouse for Hammel Park at Beenleigh.
The $5.9 million project investment will support the Beenleigh Juniors Rugby League Football Club.
Mayor Jon Raven said supporting the City of Logan's sports facilities was crucial to nurturing and encouraging young talent.
"As one of the fastest growing cities in Australia, our community deserves great facilities," Mayor Raven said.
"This is an amazing club that's grown massively over the last few years.
"We're already the base for some of the NRL and the NRLW's best players, and will no doubt produce many more by continuing to back grassroots sport."
The project will deliver a fit-for-purpose clubhouse that includes a kitchen and canteen, changerooms, an office, a first-aid room, a referee room, internal and external storage rooms, spectator amenities and covered viewing areas.
The existing car park and pedestrian pathways will also be upgraded.
The project received $1 million from the Federal Government's Investing in Our Communities (IiOC) program.
Division 12 Councillor Karen Murphy said she was excited to see the Beenleigh community enjoying the upgraded venue.
"We have some amazing sporting clubs here in Division 12 and it's important they have modern, accessible facilities to train, play and host community events in," Cr Murphy said.
"These are the latest in a string of upgrades at Hammel Park, with its netball courts receiving new lighting and court resurfacing last year."
The Federal Member for Forde, Rowan Holzberger MP, said sport was where young people could learn teamwork and be a part of a community.
"The new clubhouse will give players and volunteers the facilities they need for years to come," Mr Holzberger said.
The Beenleigh Juniors Rugby League Football Club Committee said the local football community was excited to see the new clubhouse.
"Over many decades, hundreds of volunteers have worked so hard to help keep this facility up and operating, but now it's time for new beginnings," the Committee said.
"These new facilities will help grow rugby league, especially with junior development and the rapidly increasing number of female participants.
"Thanks to all levels of government who have worked on pulling this together."
