Collie Futures Grants Reopen for Community Growth

  • Collie Futures Small Grants Program reopens
  • Businesses and organisations can apply for grants of up to $100,000
  • Expressions of Interest to open for the Collie Futures Economic Advisory Group
  • Cook Government committed to supporting Collie's Just Transition and diversifying Western Australia's nation-leading economy

Businesses and organisations in Collie can now apply for grants of up to $100,000 through a Cook Government initiative that supports projects that deliver significant benefits to the local community.

The Collie Futures Small Grants Program has reopened to support projects that create new economic and community opportunities, including initiatives that help workers transitioning from coalrelated industries.

Established in 2018, the program has been updated to align with the recently released Collie Just Transition Plan 2026-30, which outlines how Collie is being supported as the town continues to shift away from coal-related industries.

A key focus of the review was ensuring the community is supported to submit the strongest possible funding applications. Submissions received before the temporary program pause were assessed during the closure period.

Funding has now been awarded to three projects, with Carbon Recycle having received $100,000 for a feasibility study into a jobcreating pyrolysis plant, which would process endoflife tyres into renewable diesel and carbon black.

Lavella Park Agistment and Rehabilitation Centre received $100,000 to enhance its equine care, therapy services and event facilities.

Collie Radiator Service was also awarded $100,000 to expand its capacity and strengthen its capabilities.

An information session about the grants and how to apply will be held on 16 April 2026.

Expressions of Interest are also being sought from locals interested in being part of the Collie Futures Economic Advisory Group, which provides input to guide decision-making on grants allocations. Applications open on 1 April and close on 15 April.

"More than 50 projects have already been supported through the Small Grants Program, and reopening it now gives Collie another strong opportunity to turn local ideas into real outcomes that support the town's future.

"This round also strengthens community involvement, with locals invited to help guide decision making through the Collie Futures Economic Advisory Group."

As stated by South West Minister Don Punch:

"These grants are delivering real benefits for Collie by supporting projects that strengthen the local economy at a time of significant change.

"Whether it's new industry feasibility work or improvements to important community services, each funded project reflects the Cook Government's commitment to Collie's future and to helping the town adapt, prosper and remain a vibrant place to live and work."

As stated by Collie-Preston MLA Jodie Hanns:

"This program is about backing Collie - our workers, our local businesses, our community, and our future.

"By aligning the grant program to the Just Transition plans and listening to what locals told us, we've been able to streamline the application process to genuinely support people putting their ideas forward."
