CommBank Matildas drawn into Group B for AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022

The Commonwealth Bank Matildas have learned their opponents for the AFC Women's Asian Cup India 2022™ following the official draw on Thursday, 28 October.

Australia were drawn in Group B for the expanded 12-nation tournament, to be held in India from January 20 to February 6, 2022.

Tony Gustavsson's side will face Thailand, Phillipines and Indonesia in Group B, with the top two teams qualifying directly for the Quarter Finals, and two of the best third-placed teams also reaching the last eight.

Kicking things off for the CommBank Matildas in the group stage is a clash with Indonesia, with that match now just 85 days away.

Rounding out the group stage is Australia v Thailand, who faced off in the last edition of the tournament in 2018, beating the 1983 Champions of the tournament 3-1 on penalties after the game finished 2-2 in the Semi Finals.

That Matildas side was coached by Alen Stajcic at the time, who is now the head coach of the Philippines Women's National Team, and who Australia will face in the second game of the group stage.
