Committee passes the ball to Sport Australia

Sport Australia CEO Kate Palmer will appear at a public hearing in Canberra on Thursday before the federal parliamentary committee examining Canberra's national institutions.

Sport Australia is the nation's key sports administration and advisory body.

The Chair of the Committee, Mr Ben Morton MP, said that "Sport Australia holds an important role in the development of Australia's sporting landscape, including managing the Australian Institute of Sport. We are particularly interested to talk with Sport Australia about the status and future of the AIS, as an iconic Canberra institution."

Mr Morton said the Committee considered it important that its inquiry look at the broad range of Canberra's national institutions, including those located outside the Parliamentary Triangle.
