Communication key during Sydney Street Rejuvenation works

Works on the Sydney Street Rejuvenation Project recently finished out the front of Pat Croke Furniture, as the project continues along Kilmore's main street.

Salesperson Kevin Curtis said the works are having a positive impact on the look and feel of Sydney Street.

"We've got new trees out the front our store, a new pedestrian crossing and the footpath along other parts of the street is looking good," he said.

"Once it's all completed it will be a much more inviting space that people will want to stop at.

"We're a popular destination for people travelling from Melbourne to Echuca and the new look will be a great way to encourage them to spend some time here."

While happy about the end result, Kevin said it's been a difficult time for residents and business owners.

"Having all the work going on out the front was a challenge. We temporarily lost our parking and had to make alternative arrangements to keep things as normal as possible," he said.

"Keeping in communication with our customers was key. We used social media to make sure people knew we were still open and to tell them where else they could park.

"The works are an inconvenience but they're necessary for the improvements we are starting to see."

Kevin encouraged business owners and residents to visit Mitchell Shire Council Engagement Officer James Bone at the Kilmore Library for information about the project.

"James was very helpful and very honest about timelines and impacts of the work," he said.

"He was available when we needed him and helped make the process as painless as possible.

"Give him a call or go see him at the library if you want to be prepared for when the works are at your section of the street."
