Community Benefit Fund Grants Now Open

The Territory Labor Government is reminding Territorians to get their applications in for the Community Benefit Fund (CBF) Grants before they close on 28 February 2020 – with the 2019-20 financial year having $15 million worth of grants available.

Community groups and not for profits across the Territory are encouraged to apply. These grants are a great way for community organisations to increase their capacity, service delivery and establishment, and to build on and invest in the important work that they do.

The CBF grants provide much needed funding for community organisations to continue to deliver services and recreational opportunities for Territorians as well as providing a much needed boost to the Territory economy.

The wide range of eligible projects and initiatives available for funding under the CBF grants means that all eligible organisations can be creative and innovative in their requests. Eligible projects include community safety and wellbeing, expanding sporting and arts programs, youth initiatives, upgrading recreation facilities, general community projects and the recently included category for events.

This financial year the Darwin Men's Shed received $165,000 grant to relocate from Casuarina to a new premises in Winnellie.

Other grant recipients include Bima Wear Aboriginal Designs on the Tiwi Islands, which received funding for building maintenance and structural repairs. The $192,000 grant will provide jobs for contractors and will refresh Bima Wear's premises for years to come.
