Nationals Member for Oxley, Michael Kemp, is calling on the Minister for Roads to immediately address the dangerous conditions at the intersection of Ginagay Way and Valla Beach Road, following yet another serious crash.
Despite repeated representations from the community, police, emergency services and Mr Kemp himself, the concerns have not been taken seriously by Transport for NSW or the Minister.
"We've had crash after crash, and it feels like they aren't taking it seriously enough. The community is fed up and they want action now before another potentially fatal incident," Mr Kemp said.
"I've done the right thing. I've gone through the process, worked in good faith with the agencies involved, and tried to give Transport the time and space to get it right," he said.
"But we've now reached a point where inaction is costing people their safety. The current road design isn't working, regardless of whether it's correct."
Upgrades to the intersection have already cost taxpayers a considerable sum, yet the outcomes have failed to address the core problem of driver confusion.
"Community safety must come before theoretical road rules. What looks good on paper clearly isn't working in practice," Mr Kemp said.
Mr Kemp has called on the Minister to provide a real, workable solution to improve safety at the site.
"My community is worried and angry. This is about making sure no more families get the call that someone they love has been seriously hurt. We need a fix, and we need it now," he said.
