Ararat Rural City Council is encouraging residents across the municipality to come along to upcoming Community Drop-In Sessions and share their views on local issues, projects, and priorities. Running from Monday 29 June to Thursday 2 July, the sessions will be held in Ararat, Warrak, Streatham, Willaura, Moyston, Pomonal, Wickliffe, and Lake Bolac, and give people a chance to speak directly with Councillors and Council staff close to home.
The Community Drop-In Sessions are an opportunity for residents to raise questions, highlight concerns, and put forward ideas that will help shape Council's day-to-day operations and long term planning. Council is particularly encouraging people who do not usually attend formal meetings or consultations to take this chance to have a conversation in an informal, accessible setting.
Ararat Rural City Mayor Cr Bob Sanders said now is the time for residents to get involved. "If there is something you care about in your town, come and tell us," Mayor Sanders said. "These sessions only run for a few days and they are our main chance this winter to sit down with people, listen, and make sure their views are on the table when we are making decisions."
Mayor Sanders said the feedback gathered through the drop in sessions would play a direct role in guiding Council's future work. "We rely on local knowledge and common sense from our communities, and that only comes when people turn up and talk to us," he said. "If you have five minutes you're very welcome to call in and have your say."
Residents can attend any session that suits them, regardless of where they live in the municipality. Council staff will be on hand at each location to share updates on current projects, answer questions, and help capture ideas and feedback for future planning.
