Community invited to Imagine our region in 2040 at Mildura

Imagine 2040 is an opportunity for everyone in the Mildura Rural City Council area to help shape the future of our region and guide the work of Council over the coming years.

In the next six months Council will lead an extensive community engagement process, asking everyone what would make our region a better place to live, work and play.

The first round of engagement kicks off today and will run until 25 April.

Feedback received will be used to help develop a 20-year Community Vision, four-year Council Plan, a Financial Plan, Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan and an Asset Plan.

Mildura Mayor Jason Modica invites everyone to get involved and help shape the future of our region.

“We want to hear from as many people as possible. This is your chance to imagine a future that has everything you, your family, friends and community need to succeed, be well and happy,” Cr Modica said.

“As the name suggests, the Community Vision will be informed, developed and owned by the community, making it imperative we receive as many goals, aspirations and ideas from the people who live and work in our region as we can.

“We want to know what you like about our region, what would make it better, and any priorities you think are important.

“So whether you live locally, own a local business, work here, or just visit, we want to hear from you.”

There are a range of opportunities and ways people can share their ideas, including through Council’s digital engagement platform

Feedback from this initial round of community engagement can be provided until 25 April this year.

All feedback will be analysed and themed before a second round of community engagement gets under way in June when community will have the chance to refine and prioritise the key themes.

A draft document will then go out on public exhibition in late July/early August before it is considered by Councillors for endorsement later this year.
