The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is recruiting Local Engagement Officers to support the 2026 Census, to be held on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. There are roles available in and around the City of Ryde area in the lead up to Census time.
Local Engagement Officers help people from our diverse community participate safely and confidently in the Census through local engagement, information sessions, and community partnerships.
If you have experience in community engagement and enjoy leading teams, this is a great opportunity to make a difference locally.
Why the Census matters
Held every five years, the Census provides a snapshot of Australia and helps inform planning for essential services and infrastructure such as schools, health care, transport, and local services.
