The City of Fremantle is updating its Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan to guide its priorities and actions over the next five years.
The Plan seeks to:
- Identify community concerns around anti-social behaviour, perceptions around safety, and the visibility and accessibility of the City's safety services.
- Understand what the community sees as key priorities, e.g. increased patrols, stronger partnerships, more cameras, or better urban design.
- Educate the community on the role of local government in this area and how to best access crime prevention and community safety resources.
- Renew and refresh the Community Safey & Crime Prevention plan to meet the needs of the Fremantle community and align with other obligations required of the City.
To help shape a safer Fremantle for everyone, the City is asking the community to familiarise themselves with the current strategy and resources available, and to share their thoughts on what's working and what could be done differently.
The updated Plan will reflect the evolving urban and social environment and will include actions the City can lead, facilitate, or advocate for-particularly where responsibility lies beyond local government.
Creating a safe and welcoming community is a shared responsibility requiring strong partnerships with state agencies, local organisations, and the community.
