At last night's meeting of Campaspe Shire Council, Councillors reviewed the results of the 2025 Community Satisfaction Survey conducted by Metropolis Research Pty Ltd in March.
Campaspe Shire Council Mayor, Cr Daniel Mackrell, said that while overall satisfaction dipped slightly from last year's near-record high, this was true across the state and Campaspe's results remain well above regional benchmarks.
"Campaspe continues to outperform the regional Victorian average, with our overall satisfaction score of 5.4 out of 10 sitting 4 per cent above the regional average and 6 per cent above the large shire councils' average," Cr Mackrell said.
"This year's results show strong improvements in key service areas including youth services, bike paths, drains, services for children, arts and culture, and our local library services. These are areas that matter deeply to our community, and we're proud to see that reflected in the feedback."
The survey also introduced new questions to better capture community sentiment, including a comparison between Council-managed roads and those managed by VicRoads. Campaspe's roads scored 6 per cent higher than VicRoads-managed roads, highlighting the effectiveness of Council's ongoing maintenance efforts.
"We know road maintenance remains a priority for our residents, and we're pleased to see our roads rated more favourably than major arterial roads. We recognise that roads remain a key opportunity for improvement.
"This feedback will help inform our next Road Management Plan review which is currently open for comment," Cr Mackrell added.
The survey also showed improvement in satisfaction with customer service and community engagement, with new measures introduced to better assess opportunities for residents to engage with Council decision-making.
"The insights from this survey are invaluable. They help us understand what matters most to our community and guide our efforts to improve service delivery and governance," Cr Mackrell said.
