Oakleigh is set to welcome a vibrant new art trail that will bring together existing public art and creative wayfinding with new projections, lightboxes, murals and a major landmark artwork.
The trail represents a significant public art and placemaking initiative that celebrates Oakleigh's diverse multicultural business precinct and rich Greek heritage.
By drawing visitors to its streets, laneways, cafés, restaurants and shops, the trail will further strengthen Oakleigh's reputation as a unique visitor destination for cultural and creative experiences.
Responding to community feedback
As part of the trail development, we asked the community to share what they love most about Oakleigh and the stories, memories and connections that make the precinct unique.
Thank you to everyone who shared their stories and told us what they love about Oakleigh.
We heard from 108 community members, with feedback highlighting Oakleigh's multicultural and Greek heritage, exceptional food and coffee culture, and strong sense of community within a vibrant village atmosphere.
Next steps
These themes will be developed into curatorial themes which will be used by commissioned artists as they create the trail's murals and major artwork.
