Community to Discover Goldfields' Heritage Bid

Goldfields' World Heritage Bid

Indigo Shire Council is encouraging community members to attend an upcoming drop‑in information session to learn more about the Victorian Goldfields World Heritage Bid.

The session will be held on Wednesday 3 June, from 3pm to 7pm, at the Beechworth Town Hall, and provides an opportunity for residents, businesses and community groups to speak directly with the Victorian Goldfields World Heritage Bid Project Team.

The project team will be on hand throughout the four‑hour session to share an update on the bid, explain the World Heritage listing process, and discuss what potential listing could mean for local communities, the regional economy and the broader Goldfields landscape.

Indigo Shire Mayor Sophie Price said the session is a chance for the community to hear firsthand about the progress of the bid and its regional significance.

"This is an important opportunity for our residents and businesses to understand what World Heritage listing could bring to our region - from cultural recognition to economic benefits," the Mayor said. "The drop‑in format means people can come along at any time, have a chat with the project team and ask questions in a relaxed setting."

Attendees are welcome to drop in at any time between 3pm and 7pm to speak with the project team over a cuppa. All are welcome.
