Police are investigating a large disturbance that occurred in Wadeye yesterday morning.
Around 9:30am, police received multiple reports of a large disturbance occurring on Perjert Street involving up to 100 people with some armed with edged weapons.
Local members attended and observed five individuals engaged in the altercation with a crowd of up to 100 community members spectating.
Police, with the assistance of community elders, intervened and the crowd disbursed.
Two edged weapons and a window louvre were seized.
Two females aged 22 and 24 were injured during the incident. The 22-year-old suffered a foot injury and was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital via CareFlight for treatment, while the 24-year-old was treated at the local clinic for minor injuries to her wrist.
Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
Acting Senior Sergeant Jimmy Yengayenga said, "We are working closely with Community Elders, Traditional Owners and other relevant stakeholders to restore calm and community safety."
