Community workshop to explore strategies for 2019/20

Council's key projects and strategic direction for 2019/2020 will be explained at a forum of community representatives next week.

Delegates from community organisations throughout the Armidale region have been invited to attend the workshop, being held on Thursday 6 June to provide further insight to the Council strategic documents currently on public exhibition.

An extraordinary meeting of Council on 15 May 2019 resolved to put the draft 2019/2020 Operational Plan and Resourcing Strategy - incorporating the 2019/2020 Operating Budget and Fees & Charges - on public exhibition from Friday 17 May to Monday 17 June 2019.

"The combined documents set out what we're aiming to undertake during the next financial year, while achieving a small budget surplus," Armidale Regional Council Mayor Simon Murray said.

"Next week's forum will shed light on how those objectives were determined and will give community representatives a chance to comment on those plans.

"We're inviting representatives of residents and progress associations, business groups and other groups to ensure we have a good cross section of the community. In addition, we're providing the opportunity for other people to express an interest to attend, so the participants accurately reflect the various sections of our community."

The workshop will be held at Black Mountain Public School from 5pm to 6pm.

"Black Mountain was chosen to host the forum, away from the main population centres, to further emphasise the Council is focused on the prosperity and wellbeing of our region as a whole. That region-wide focus is reflected in our schedule of activities for 2019/2020," he said.
