Company Fined $225,000 After Worker Injured In Fall

Wrigley Metal Roofing Co Pty Ltd has been fined $225 000 in the District Court of NSW as a result of a prosecution by SafeWork NSW.

The proceedings arose following a workplace incident on 25 July 2022 where a worker fell nearly 3.8 metres from the roof of a residential dwelling. The worker suffered serious injuries as a result of the fall.

Wrigley Metal Roofing Co Pty Ltd was engaged to assist the principal contractor at a construction site at Avalon Beach, New South Wales where the worker was employed to undertake re-sheeting and cladding work at the site.

Wrigley Metal Roofing Co Pty Ltd entered a plea of guilty to an offence pursuant to section 32 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (NSW) for failing to comply with its health and safety duty to workers under section 19(1) of the Act.

Wrigley Metal Roofing Co Pty Ltd has the right to appeal against its sentence.
