Competition Golf set to tee-off again

Jane Howlett,Minister for Sport and Recreation

The Tasmanian Government understands the importance of the State's sport and recreation sector and we are committed to supporting it through these difficult times.

I am pleased that from Monday 18 May, competition golf will be able to resume at all golf clubs in Tasmania.

The health and safety of all Tasmanians remains our priority and that is why a number of measures will be put in place by clubs, including social distancing, enhanced hygiene protocols and rule modifications designed to minimise the risk of infection to participants.

Under the restrictions put in place to address COVID-19, competition golf has until now been prohibited with only two players per hole allowed for a social round.

But from tomorrow, competitions can resume, four players will be allowed per hole and club rooms will be permitted to open under limitations.

I thank Golf Australia for its work with the Government as we ease restrictions and deliver our plan to rebuild Tasmania.

Golf Australia will communicate with all Tasmanian golf clubs and facilities to provide the guidelines on measures required to return to play.
