Completion of Gold Coast Schoolies 2018

The official week of schoolies 2018 concluded this morning with thousands of school leavers enjoying a final night of organised activities in Surfers Paradise., Queensland Police say

Overnight there were no major incidents with 18 male schoolies arrested on 18 offences, which were mainly drug offences.

There were also 18 non-schoolies arrested on 19 offences, mainly relating to public nuisance, obstructing police and contravening a requirement.

While schoolies has concluded for Queensland school leavers, a large number of interstate schoolies will begin arriving on the Gold Coast and an increased police presence will remain in the Surfers Paradise precinct throughout the next two weeks.

With the majority of interstate schoolies being 18 years of age and over, the policing strategy for the next few weeks will shift towards licensed venues.
