Concept Plans Released For Major School Upgrades

Tasmanian Government

The concept plans for the $15.1 million redevelopment of South George Town Primary School and the $25 million redevelopment of Dodges Ferry Primary School have been released for public consultation.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the Tasmanian Government is getting on with the job of delivering new and upgraded education facilities for students and staff across the State.

"These major upgrades are part of our $188 million School Building Blitz, which will deliver significant improvements to 15 schools across the State," the Premier said.

"We're continuing our strong record of delivering world-class educational facilities that support our students to grow and thrive."

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the concept plans for South George Town and Dodges Ferry Primary Schools were informed by extensive consultation with students, staff and the local communities.

"We know schools are at the heart of communities and we want them to be shaped by the people who will use them," Minister Palmer said.

"Importantly, engagement with schools and key stakeholders will continue to occur to ensure these facilities meet the needs of both our students and our teachers."

Community consultation on the concept plans is open until 13 March 2026, with construction scheduled to begin in 2027.

Both projects are expected to be completed in 2029.
