The upgrade will improve Yellow Rock Road between the Illawarra Highway and Araluen Terrace, helping increase road safety, pedestrian access and connectivity for the growing community.

The project is supported by funding from Council and the Australian Government through the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program with additional support from the Road to Recovery program.

Key features of the project include:

• New road pavement and upgraded intersections at Wongawilli Street and Hereford Chase

• Improved pedestrian paths and crossings

• Kerb, gutter and stormwater improvements

• Better on-street parking and accessibility

Mayor Chris Homer said the start of construction was an important step for the Tullimbar area.

"I want to thank the Australian Government for its strong support of this upgrade, and acknowledgee Federal Member for Whitlam, Carol Berry, for her support for this road project and her ongoing engagement with our community," Mayor Homer said.

"Their investment through the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program, along with additional support from Road to Recovery, has been instrumental in getting this project to the construction phase. We're grateful for this partnership, which will help us deliver safer, more accessible connections for the growing Tullimbar community."

Council recently held community drop-in sessions with Cleary Bros to share construction plans, timelines and access arrangements, giving residents the opportunity to ask questions ahead of major works.
