We are thrilled to announce that construction of the final items for Stage 1 of the Rye Township Plan are now complete!

Since works began back in May 2025, Rye residents as well as surrounding community have been patient and understanding. Why? Because these works deliver the long awaited Rye Foreshore Park & Promenade upgrade.

Completed upgrades include:

  • Linked promenade to the northern end of Napier Street
  • Refurbished central walkway
  • Upgraded carparking area to the west of the Foreshore Promenade
  • Brand new Foreshore Park, replacing the former eastern carpark
  • Two plaza areas on either end of the Foreshore Promenade
  • New seating and furniture throughout the foreshore
  • Landscaping
  • Extension of the Pauline Powell boardwalk.
  • Renewed grass open spaces.

Stage one received a total investment of $6.5 million, funded through a $3.25 million Victorian State Government's Growing Suburbs Fund, as well as a matching $3.25 million contribution from Council.

Since being adopted in 2015 and followed by years of local community consultation, the Rye Township Plan sets the strategic vision and direction for the improvement of the foreshore, streetscape and town centre of Rye. It was closely developed with the Rye community, Rye Community Group Alliance and former Rye Beach Business Association.

The Rye community as well as visitors can now enjoy a fully upgraded Foreshore Park & Promenade, as well as the already completed Napier Street Plaza and Rye West Campgrounds.
