Construction set to commence at George Lay Park

Construction will commence in April on a much-anticipated toilet block at George Lay Park in Swan Hill.

Mayor Bill Moar said the new toilet block at George Lay Park had been on the agenda for some time following an expressed need from the community.

"We have received a large number of requests from locals indicating a need for toilets at this popular park," Cr Moar said.

"The park, with its fantastic play equipment, barbecue, community garden, outdoor exercise equipment and Pedal Park which focuses on early learning and road safety, are just some of the reasons for its enormous popularity with local families, and those walking to and from school.

"The installation of toilets will make this park even more popular and encourage park users to stay and enjoy what the park has to offer - perhaps it may encourage some more events there as well."

Cr Moar said the toilet block was expected to be completed by mid-May of this year.

The project has been made possible thanks to funding from Round 1 of the Federal Government's Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Fund. The George Lay Park toilet block is part of $1.49 million in improvement projects being delivered around the municipality.
