- 60 schools to share more than $270,000 from Healthway's Healthy Schools Program
- The funding supports projects that promote student health and wellbeing
- Each school can receive up to $5,000 through the program
The Cook Government is funding 60 public schools across Western Australia to support student health and wellbeing.
Together, these schools will share in $272,904 from Healthway's Healthy Schools Program, with each school receiving between $3,000 and $5,000 to deliver projects that promote healthy habits and create supportive school environments.
Projects funded this year include healthy cooking and nutrition lessons, school vegetable gardens, sensory spaces, and professional development for teachers to deliver fun, high-quality physical education classes.
The funding supports schools to align with the Health Promoting Schools Framework, a whole-school approach to building healthier, more connected communities now and into the future.
The schools - which range from the South West all the way to the Kimberley - will roll out their projects this term, working closely with relevant local health and community organisations to maximise impact.
Healthway's Healthy Schools Program will open again in February 2026. For more information visit www.healthway.wa.gov.au .
As stated by Preventative Health Minister Sabine Winton:
"As both Preventative Health and Education Minister, I know when students feel well and supported, they are more confident and ready to learn.
"These grants mean schools can turn creative ideas into real projects that make a difference for their school communities.
"Whether it's a garden, a cooking program, or new ways to support mental health, it's about giving students practical skills that will stay with them for life.
"It is inspiring to see school leaders, teachers, students, and local communities working together to build healthier and happier school environments."
