Cop saves man off Frankston pier

A brave police woman dived into waters off the Frankston pier to rescue an 18-year-old man in trouble this morning.

It is believed the man jumped into the bay for a swim when he was unable to handle the choppy conditions and called for help just before 11.30am.

Emergency services were called to the pier on the Nepean Highway and found the man gripping onto the pier.

A Frankston Leading Senior Constable arrived shortly after and dived into the water to rescue the man, swimming under the pier with a floatation device.

The officer was able to safely pull the Botanic Ridge man from the water.

He was taken to hospital for observation
