Copper Theft Charges, Raceview

Police have charged two people following an alleged copper theft incident in Raceview on 19 April.

It will be alleged at 12.30am, police were called to reports of suspicious activity at a site on Thornton Street.

PD Iggy tracked one man to a nearby address while officers arrested a second man at a separate address shortly afterwards after they both allegedly fled the premises.

Police will allege the pair unlawfully entered the site and stole copper wiring.

Police later recovered a large quantity of property linked to the matter.

A 39-year-old Raceview man and a 37-year-old Raceview man have each been charged with two counts of enter premises and commit an indictable offence, two counts of stealing, and one count each of wilful damage and possessing housebreaking implements.

The 39-year-old man has been remanded in custody to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on 18 May, while the 37-year-old man has been remanded to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on 11 May.
