There are 397 COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria - with 33 active cases in ICU, including 13 on a ventilator, and an additional 35 cleared cases in ICU.
This is the first time since 30 December last year that the number of COVID-19 cases in hospital in Victoria has been below 400.
5,867,896 vaccine doses have been administered by Victoria's state-commissioned services, with 10,497 administered yesterday at state-run centres. 201 of the doses administered yesterday were for children aged 5 to 11 years.
52.4 per cent of Victorians aged 18 and over have had three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine. 93.8 per cent of Victorians aged 12 and over have had two doses. 53.0 per cent of Victorians aged between 5 and 11 years have had one dose.
8,149 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded yesterday. This includes:
- 5,295 who tested positive on a Rapid Antigen Test
- 2,854 who returned a positive result on a PCR test.
Sadly, the Department was notified yesterday of 18 deaths of people aged in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Of these deaths, seven occurred in the past two days and 16 occurred in the past fortnight. Two of the deaths occurred in late January. This brings the total number of deaths in Victoria since the pandemic began to 2,324.
There are 49,936 active cases in Victoria.
23,278 PCR tests were processed yesterday. The total number of PCR tests performed in Victoria since the pandemic began is 19,266,955.

Resumption of elective surgery
All elective surgery across Victorian private and public hospitals can resume by the end of the month.
From Monday 21 February public hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne will be able to perform Category 2 surgery and private hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne can undertake up to 75 per cent of any elective surgery, increasing from the current 50 per cent.
In regional Victoria, the cap for private hospitals will increase from the current 75 per cent to up to 100 per cent on Monday 21 February, while regional public hospitals continue to deliver any elective surgery based on their individual capacity.
