Correctional officer charged over indecent assaults, NSW

Police have charged a correctional officer following investigations into a number of alleged indecent assaults upon two inmates earlier this year, NSW Police say.

In March 2017, two female inmates were allegedly indecently assaulted at a correctional centre and a hospital.

Police from the Corrective Services Investigation Unit were alerted and launched an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 52-year-old man was arrested at Kings Park yesterday.

He was taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with aggravated act of indecency (person under authority) and two counts of aggravated indecent assault (person under authority).

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Thursday 27 April 2017.
