Indigo Shire Council is again backing its local communities to get moving, awarding $30,000 to a variety of community and sporting groups through its 2025 Get Active Indigo Grants Program.
At Tuesday's meeting, Council awarded funding to 11 successful applicants who will bring innovative physical activity initiatives to communities throughout the Shire.
"This year's funding round again attracted a high number of applicants, showing the incredible energy and commitment within our community to promote active lifestyles," says Mayor Sophie Price.
Among the diverse projects receiving support are three "come and try it" programs, including orienteering, croquet and triathlons.
"What makes the Get Active program special is its balance of traditional sports with emerging activities that attract new participants," says Cr Price. "We're particularly pleased to support projects that make physical activity more accessible to everyone, including those who may traditionally be less likely to participate."
Other successful applications include a new pickleball competition in Beechworth, a Shire-wide skating program, community barefoot bowls in Kiewa and tennis coaching at Allans Flat.
