Council Backs Communities After Air India Tragedy

Hume City Council extends its deepest condolences to all those affected by the devastating crash of Air India Flight AI171.

The tragedy, which occurred shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad on its way to London, claimed the lives of 241 passengers and crew, with additional fatalities reported on the ground.

This heartbreaking event has sent shockwaves across the world – and deeply affected many here in Hume. We are home to one of Victoria's most vibrant Indian communities, and we know many families have close ties to Ahmedabad, to India, to Britain, and across the broader South Asian region.

Our thoughts are with all those experiencing grief, fear, and uncertainty in the wake of this unimaginable loss.
