Council Backs Community Through Grants Program

Latrobe City Council will continue to support community groups by providing over $265,000 worth of funding in Round Two of Council's Community Grants and Sponsorship programs

The Community Grants and Sponsorship program provides financial support to a diverse range of community led projects and initiatives that foster social inclusion, cultural enrichment, strengthen community connections and contribute to the overall well-being of our vibrant City.

At the June Council Meeting, Council endorsed a total of 62 grant applications and one sponsorship application for full or part funding across the categories of Minor Capital Works, Minor Equipment, Community Wellbeing, Community Events Minor, Community Events Significant and Community Sponsorship Major.

Grants funding will be used to assist groups to run community events, purchase much needed equipment and undertake capital works projects.

Mayor of Latrobe City Council, Councillor Kellie O'Callaghan said that Council is proud to be a catalyst for community driven initiatives, enabling individuals and organisations to make a positive impact.

"We understand the importance of the Community Grants and Sponsorship Program to our community and community groups. The program provides financial assistance to successful applicants, enabling them to cover various project-related costs, such as equipment, venue hire, promotional materials, and professional services," said the Mayor.

"Latrobe City Council is committed to working alongside the community to provide support to organisations and groups that not only helps them to grow but aids in increasing social connection and improved physical and mental health outcomes for our communities,"

"Council is proud to be a catalyst for community-driven initiatives, enabling individuals and organisations to make a positive impact within their respective areas of interest."

The Community Grants Program aims to support community initiatives, projects and events that support the local region and those that have positive social and economic benefits for the broader community, while enabling community, volunteer and not-for-profit organisations access to additional funds to support their projects.

Applications for Round Two of the 2022/23 Community Grants and Sponsorship Programs were accepted from 20 February 2023 to 20 March 2023.
