Households and business in the Swan Hill Rural City municipality can now access cost-effective solar thanks to a partnership between Council and the More Australian Solar Homes (MASH) initiative.
The Mallee Sun Solar Bulk Buy program aims to make it easier for households and businesses to go solar, and save on their energy bills, with an option they can trust.
The bulk buy program will be launched with three public information session this month:
Swan Hill Town Hall on 16 and 18 July, 6.30pm-8.30pm.
Robinvale Resource Centre on 17 July, from 6.30pm-8.30pm
Swan Hill Rural City Council Mayor Ann Young said Mallee Sun Solar Bulk Buy would be a fantastic opportunity for residents to access good-priced quality solar panels systems.
"We all know that we have plenty of sunshine here in the Swan Hill region, and as a Council we are working to make the most of it by supporting large-scale solar right down to solar on our own buildings," she said.
"Mallee Sun Bulk Buy is our way of supporting local residents to join in this solar push, to also make the most of our Mallee Sun.
"We're proud to be a partner in this program."
The launch of Mallee Sun Solar Bulk Buy coincides with the restart of the Victorian Government's Solar Homes Program, which provides rebates of up to $2,225 for solar panels systems for eligible households. Rebates for low income households (including a zero-interest loan) and renters are also available. Comprehensive information about these rebates will be provided at the information sessions, including the eligibility criteria and application process.
Jo Kaptein from the Mallee Sun Solar Bulk Buy organising team said local installers and local community groups could be part of the program too.
