Have your say on the Cutheringa Park Master Plan to help Townsville City Council understand what you want to see at the popular sporting grounds.
Home to Western Suburbs Cricket Club, Guides Queensland and Matsumoto Karate Academy, the park includes three club houses, four cricket fields, one basketball half-court, one shaded and fenced playground and more than 300 car parks.
Infrastructure Services Committee chairperson Kurt Rehbein said the Cutheringa Park Master Plan was the roadmap for future works in the park.
"We know that this site is impacted by hooning, so Council has committed funds this financial year to install boulder barricading around Cutheringa Park," Cr Rehbein said.
"This park is home to a significant number of sporting groups, and we recognise the immediate need to provide protection to these grounds and the people who use them.
"Council has drafted a masterplan for Cutheringa Park which features a playground, shade shelters, large and small dog off-leash areas, footpaths, community garden, public amenities and open age cricket pitch.
"We now want the community's input to help better inform what will suit the needs of park users.
"Tell us what you want to see at Cutheringa Park by heading to our in-person consultation from 5pm to 6pm on Tuesday 29 August, or by visiting our Have Your Say platform online and providing your feedback by Friday 8 September 2023."
Inclusive Communities Advisory Committee (ICAC) chairperson Liam Mooney said he was pleased that the master plan was being done to ensure Cutheringa Park becomes as inclusive as possible.
"The ICAC's purpose is to provide information and advice to Council on current and emerging social planning and community development matters associated with creating Townsville as a liveable city that is accessible and inclusive for all people," Cr Moony said.
"Everyone is excited to hear from the community about what they want at Cutheringa Park and it's important to make sure it can be enjoyed by people of all abilities."
Council is committed to the provision of well-maintained fit for purpose recreational and open spaces and look forward to working with the community to help improve Cutheringa Park.
