Maitland City Council is calling on the community to nominate outstanding and deserving individuals to be part of the City of Maitland Hall of Fame 2021.

The Hall of Fame celebrates outstanding achievement and contribution of individuals from all spheres of the community who have made significant and enduring contributions in diverse fields such as arts, theatre and literature, business and public service, military service, research and education, science and innovation, and sport.

To be eligible for consideration for induction, nominees will need to meet the following criteria: strong association with the Maitland local government area, significant and enduring contribution to their field of endeavour, and be a source of civic pride and inspiration.

The Hall of Fame already includes some of Maitland's most successful academics, politicians, artists and sportspeople such as champion boxer Les Darcy, and more recently, sports broadcaster Gary Harley and distinguished academic Sue McNeil.

The Mayor of Maitland, Loretta Baker says, 'The City of Maitland Hall of Fame aims to promote pride in local achievement and highlight those who have displayed the highest community standards, value and accomplishments. I encourage the Maitland community to send in their nominations to honour those that are truly deserving.'

Nominations close on Sunday 18 April, with successful nominees to be announced in May.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place in June 2021.
