In accordance with the NSW Government Public Health Order, face masks are now compulsory at Lismore City Council offices and facilities.
Restrictions apply to all facilities including the Corporate Centre in Goonellabah, the Recycling & Recovery Facility, GSAC, the Regional Gallery and the Lismore and Goonellabah libraries.
Capacity limits are in place at these locations and people will need to check-in via the Service NSW QR code system. Council staff working in an indoor setting are also wearing masks in keeping with the order.
Over the weekend, the NSW Government extended stay-at-home orders across all of Greater Sydney including the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Shellharbour and Wollongong, and introduced restrictions for all other parts of NSW - including Lismore.
It is now compulsory to wear masks in all indoor non-residential settings, including workplaces, and at organised outdoor events. Visitors to households are limited to five guests and the one person per four-square metre rule has also been re-introduced for all indoor and outdoor settings, including weddings and funerals.
Lismore City Council Mayor Vanessa Ekins backed the restrictions, which are in place until 11.59pm on Friday, 9 July.
"These measures have been introduced to stop the spread of COVID-19 and to protect our community," she said.
"Everyone attending Council facilities must wear a mask and we remind people to practice social distancing, ensure good hygiene and please stay home if you feel unwell. We know the community will support each other through this challenging time and we appreciate your cooperation."
