Council funding enables Wyndham business expansion

A partnership between Wyndham City and a local business has led to a $485,000 State Government grant to help the business expand its operations.

Last year, Wyndham City provided $30,000 through Council's WynLocal Manufacture and Primary Producer Expansion Fund to Purearth Foods, a Truganina-based dairy manufacturer.

Wyndham City's Future Focussed Economy portfolio holder Cr Mia Shaw said: "Council is thrilled that our initial funding has helped local business Purearth Foods take the next step in its dairy manufacturing journey to expand in diversified overseas markets."

"It's fantastic for our local economy. It enhances business confidence and importantly will create more local employment opportunities."

"Council works closely with local business through Wyndham City's Economic Growth Unit to support and assist local business and offer a range of tailored assistance."

Council's $30,000 commitment enabled Purearth to undertake a feasibility study into the final design and procurement of equipment for a $4.8 million expansion of its Truganina facility.

Purearth Foods is a single site, advanced dairy manufacturer that facilitates the delivery of milk from all Victorian Dairy regions, producing products that are sold both domestically and internationally.

"Importantly, the feasibility study paved the way for Purearth's successful application to the Victorian Government's Food to Market grant program."

"The State Government funding of $485,000 from the $15 million Food to Market program enables Purearth to increase productivity, introduce new product lines, increase sales to international markets and respond to supply chain risks with 15 new jobs to be created," Cr Shaw said.

"It helps to further cement Wyndham as a manufacturing hub."
