In recognition of International Volunteers Day and the remarkable dedication of our local volunteer community, Devonport City Council is delighted to announce the return of the annual Devonport Volunteers Breakfast-a free event created to honour the selfless individuals who contribute their time, skills, and passion to making our City stronger and more connected.
Volunteers are at the heart of Devonport's identity. Their efforts support a wide range of initiatives; from community services and aged care programs to sporting clubs, cultural groups, environmental projects, arts organisations, and emergency response roles. The annual Volunteers Breakfast is Council's way of publicly acknowledging and thanking these invaluable community members for the positive and lasting impact they make throughout the year.
Council invites all local volunteers, whether involved through community groups, service organisations, schools, clubs, or volunteer-driven initiatives, to join this special celebration. The event not only provides a delicious, hearty breakfast but also fosters a welcoming environment where volunteers can reconnect, meet new faces and share their experiences.
Mayor Alison Jarman expressed her appreciation, saying "Our volunteers are the backbone of our community. Their compassion, dedication, and willingness to lend a helping hand make Devonport a wonderfully supportive place to live. This annual breakfast is a small way for Council to say thank you and acknowledge the incredible difference volunteers make every day."
