Federation Council is extending its sincere gratitude to local volunteers whose dedicated efforts have significantly enhanced the Corowa Pioneer Cemetery, improving visitor amenities and preserving local history.

The Lions Club of Corowa and dedicated community members have undertaken recent projects that have transformed the appearance and functionality of the historic site.

The Lions Club has generously installed one of Council's used rotundas within the cemetery grounds, offering visitors much-needed shade and a place for quiet reflection. The club's efforts also included the construction of a striking new front fence, which has dramatically improved the cemetery's street appeal.

In addition to these major projects, special recognition is being given to Helen and David Jobson and their team of helpers for their ongoing and meticulous work. They have tirelessly cleaned up and reinstated numerous old and damaged graves, ensuring these important historical markers are preserved for future generations.

Mayor Cheryl Cook expressed her heartfelt thanks for the community spirit demonstrated by the volunteers.

"The work done at the Corowa Pioneer Cemetery is truly phenomenal, and it's a wonderful example of what we can achieve when we work together," Mayor Cook said. "I want to sincerely thank the Lions Club of Corowa for installing the beautiful new front fence and for giving the public a place to sit and ponder under the shade of the rotunda."

"I must also commend Helen and David Jobson and their helpers for their endless commitment to cleaning up and reinstating the old damaged graves. Their work is a vital act of historical preservation. Our volunteers are the heart of this community, and their dedication ensures our shared history is respected and remembered."

Council encourages residents to visit the Corowa Pioneer Cemetery to appreciate the work that has been done and to take a moment to reflect on the region's rich history.
