Council hours over Christmas and New Year

Here's your guide to Sunshine Coast Council services over the Christmas/New Year break.

Sunshine Coast Council Libraries will be open normal operating hours throughout the school holidays with thousands of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs available for you to borrow. However, they will be closed on all the public holidays. Council libraries are also closed on Sundays.

The Sunshine Coast Mobile Library service will not operate from Tuesday, December 25 to Tuesday, January 1. The service will recommence on Wednesday, January 2.

Another great location to visit these holidays is Caloundra Regional Gallery in Omrah Avenue which is open 10am-4pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am-2pm Saturday and Sunday. The gallery will be closed on the public holidays.

If you are looking for an enjoyable outing with family and friends over the Christmas break, the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden at Tanawha is a must and will be open daily from 7am to 6pm. The Maroochy Arts and Ecology Centre will be closed on the public holidays.

Mary Cairncross Rainforest Discovery Centre will be open every day except December 25.

Council's household waste and recycling collection services will continue as normal over the Christmas period, including all public holidays. Please note, council's waste disposal and resource recovery facilities will be closed on Christmas Day but will trade as normal on all other days.

The Sippy Creek Animal Pound at Tanawha will close at 2pm on December 24. The pound is closed on Sundays and public holidays. However it will operate as normal on other days and be open 8.15am - 6pm from Monday to Friday and 9am - noon on Saturdays.

Customer Contact and Development Information counters will be closed from 2pm on December 24.

Customer Contact counters and reception desks will be closed on December 27 and 28 and public holidays and will reopen on December 31.

The Development Information counter at Maroochydore will reopen on Wednesday, January 2 and the Caloundra counter will reopen on Monday, January 7.

Don't forget MyCouncil (mycouncil.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au) allows you to do business with council online at your convenience.

Disaster Management has all necessary arrangements in place to monitor and activate if required.
