Council Invites Locals to Celebrate Gov Week

Griffith City Council is inviting residents to help celebrate Local Government Week 2025.

Held from Monday 4 August to Sunday 10 August 2025, Local Government Week is designed to showcase the work councils do in their communities, including the wide variety of services they provide.

This year, Griffith City Council is using the week to say thank you to the selfless volunteers who support Council and to highlight some of the services and facilities the community enjoys.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran, said the week was always a good opportunity to let the community know more about what Council does.

"This week is a good opportunity to move the conversation beyond roads, rates and rubbish, to the important and far-reaching role councils play in the community," Councillor Curran said.

"As a sector we are responsible for pools, parks and playgrounds, libraries, local festivals and lighting, cemeteries, community infrastructure and much more.

"I invite residents to get involved in the activities we have planned throughout the week."

Council will hold a Thank You Morning Tea for Council Volunteers on Tuesday 5 August 2025 to honour the unwavering commitment of our facility volunteers and numerous Committee members who generously give their time.

Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre (GRALC) will offer free come and try classes for Griffith residents:
