Council Launches 2026 Seniors Festival Program

Get ready to celebrate connection, wellbeing and lifelong learning during this year's Seniors Festival in Wagga Wagga, running from Monday 2 to Sunday 15 March 2026.

Designed for community members aged 65 and over, the two-week festival features a vibrant mix of fun, engaging and inclusive talks, workshops and events.

Whether you're keen to learn something new, get active or simply connect with others, this year's program offers something for every interest and ability.

"The Seniors Festival program is jam-packed with over 15 low-cost or free activities," Wagga Wagga City Council's Community Development Officer Victoria Lowe said.

"The two-week festival promises to bring together family, friends and strangers to spark conversations and strike up new friendships in safe, supported and inclusive public spaces."

The program includes a wide range of recreational and educational workshops.

Highlights include a 'SafeTea' Morning Tea hosted by Wagga Wagga City Council and Vinnies Riverina Wagga Office; Moving Together: Dance for Mature Movers presented by DanceWise instructor Hayley Allen-Freeman; and an Old(er) Adult Mental Health First Aid accredited training course presented by Council.

Physical wellbeing is also a focus, with activities ranging from peaceful to energising.

Options include All-abilities Tai Chi for Beginners presented by Wagga Community Care (Murrumbidgee Local Health District), along with Wagga Leisure's Fitness for Old(er) Adults and Water for Wellbeing classes tailored for over-65s.

"With approximately one-fifth (22.1 per cent, Profile.id, 2026) of our city's population aged 60 years and over, it's important - and one of the key aims of the festival - to have a greater focus on finding ways for older adults to connect with others in the community, and support activities and programs that promote positive ageing," Ms Lowe said.

"Council is proud to fund and support social wellbeing programs that promote positive attitudes towards older adults and challenge stereotypes about the ageing process."

Why not set aside some time this March to explore more than twenty ways to nourish your body, mind and soul? It's your time to have fun.
