Federation Council is set to begin a major road restoration project across the council area in late September, aiming to repair significant damage caused by severe weather and flooding since 2022. The project, valued at over $5.5 million, will be carried out by contractor Szabolics Construction Pty Ltd and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2026.
The restoration work will involve heavy patching of existing bitumen-sealed pavements on both regional and local roads to improve safety, enhance driving conditions, and extend the lifespan of the local road network. This project is funded through the Transport NSW Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook, emphasized the importance of the works for the community.
"Our roads have been severely impacted by the ongoing and extreme weather events of the past few years, causing a great deal of concern for our residents," said Mayor Cook.
"This project represents a significant investment in our local infrastructure, and we are committed to restoring our road network to a safe and reliable condition. I want to thank the community for their patience as we undertake this critical work."
