Council will consider a report on the Brighton Beach Oval Pavilion redevelopment at its meeting on Tuesday 18 August 2026.
The report outlines a revised project scope following further investigation into project costs, site constraints and design feasibility. The proposed pavilion would provide safe, accessible and flexible facilities that support growing participation in local sport and shared community use.
As part of the officer recommendation, Brighton Beach Bowls Club would not be incorporated into the new pavilion redevelopment and its lease at the current site would not be renewed.
Council acknowledges the important contribution Brighton Beach Bowls Club has made to the local community over many years, along with the role all sporting and community groups play at Brighton Beach Oval. As part of the report on the Brighton Beach Oval Pavilion redevelopment, the proposal to not renew the Bowls Club lease has not been put forward lightly. It reflects the significant construction constraints of the site, sharply rising build costs and the need to deliver a safe, accessible and flexible pavilion that can support growing participation in local sport and shared community use into the future.
No decision has been made. Councillors will consider the report and discuss the recommendation at the Council meeting before determining the future direction of the project.
If Council supports the recommendation, Council will work closely with the Bowls Club to understand its needs and explore options, including alternative locations, partnerships with other clubs, or other opportunities to support members through any change.
A new pavilion would provide a welcoming shared space for local sport and community groups, including those that currently use the Bowls Club.
