Council Notes Our Community Plan June Quarterly Report

The City of Greater Geelong's Our Community Plan Quarterly Report for June 2025 was supported at last night's Council meeting.

Our Community Plan 2021–2025 is a key strategic document identifying the outcomes and priorities Council will focus its efforts on over four years, to ensure the social, economic and environmental sustainability of our region.

It is supported by an annual budget and an action plan that outlines the actions taking place in 2024–25.

The quarterly report, noted by Council, provides progress on the 58 actions we undertook to improve equity, access and inclusion for all in the 2024–25 financial year.

At the end of June 2025, 41 of the 58 actions were complete. This is the final quarterly progress report for the 2021–25 plan. Future reporting will reflect the new 2025–29 Council Plan that was adopted at the July meeting.

Fifteen more 'ongoing' actions will continue into the 2025–26 financial year and will support the execution of initiatives outlined in the new Council Plan.

Actions completed throughout the 2024–25 financial year included:

  • partnering with Geelong Food Relief to utilise fresh produce from community gardens
  • delivering the City's tree planting program with more than 2,400 trees planted in this financial year
  • upgrading all residential lighting, main roads lighting and decorative light fittings with LED lights for a combined total of about 22,000 light fittings
  • establishing a strategic alliance with the City of Wyndham with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in June 2025
  • refreshing the City's organisational values.

Our Community Plan 2021–2025 was adopted in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020 and implementation is monitored via the quarterly and annual reports.
