Georges River Council is pleased to announce the return of its subsidised cat and dog desexing program for eligible residents.
Delivered in partnership with Sydney Dogs & Cats Home, the program will be conducted at the Sydney Dogs & Cats Home Veterinary Clinic in Strathfield. Approved applicants will be able to access the program at this location from 30 September 2026 to 31 May 2027.
The reduced fees will be priced at:
-
$49.00 for cats.
-
$199.00 for dogs.
There are many benefits to desexing your pet. These include:
-
Reduced risk of certain diseases and health issues.
-
Helping to reduce behavioural issues.
-
Preventing unwanted litters and reducing the number of animals entering shelters.
-
Avoiding additional registration fees that apply to pets not desexed by the required age.
Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said, "Desexing keeps pets safe, healthy and well cared for."
"Council is committed to supporting responsible pet ownership and the wellbeing of pets across our community."
"I encourage pet owners to secure a place early and take advantage of this wonderful program".
This program is available now until all vouchers have been allocated. There is a limit of two vouchers per household.
